HEIC Support

Cimo now provides  support for HEIC (High Efficiency Image Container) files, the standard format used by modern iPhones and iPads. Since most web browsers cannot display HEIC files directly, Cimo automatically handles the process by converting them into web-friendly formats during upload.

When you upload a HEIC file, Cimo detects the format and triggers an immediate conversion to ensure your images are visible to all site visitors:

  • Browser Compatibility: By default, HEIC files are converted to PNG to ensure they render perfectly across all devices and browsers.
  • Context Preservation: The conversion process preserves the original filename and metadata context, ensuring your media library stays organized.
  • Configurable Quality: While the default is set for high-quality PNG, the target format and quality settings are fully configurable to match your optimization preferences.
  • Isolated Processing: This feature only affects HEIC files; your existing workflows for JPEGs, PNGs, and WebP images remain completely unchanged.
