AVIF Support

Cimo provides advanced image optimization by supporting the AVIF (AV1 Image File Format). AVIF offers superior compression compared to JPEG and even WebP, allowing for smaller file sizes without sacrificing visual quality.

Enabling AVIF Conversion

You can manage how Cimo handles AVIF files through the optimization settings. There are two primary ways to utilize this format:


Allow Conversion FROM AVIF

If you upload original images in AVIF format, enabling this setting allows Cimo to process and optimize them. This ensures that your high-quality source files are recognized and handled correctly by the optimization engine.


Convert TO AVIF (Format Toggle)

Within your image settings, you can choose your preferred output format. Cimo allows you to toggle between WebP and AVIF for your generated images.

  • Select AVIF: Choose this for the highest possible compression levels and modern browser support.

How to Switch Formats

Follow these steps to set your primary image generation format:

  • Navigate to the Cimo Settings within your WordPress Dashboard.
  • Look for the Image Optimization tab > Image Output Format.
  • Select the radio button for AVIF to establish it as your primary format for all newly generated images.
